The short version
We collect what we need to build a maintenance plan for your house, we keep it private to your account, and we do not sell your personal information. You can delete your account and your data at any time.
Account data
When you create an account we store your email address, a hashed password (or the identifier from your Google sign-in), and basic profile details such as your name and optional phone number. We use this to sign you in, send service email about your schedule, and respond when you contact support. Authentication is handled by our hosting provider; we never see your Google password.
Your home address and property details
Your address, ZIP code, year built, square footage, and system details (roof, HVAC, water heater, septic or sewer, well or municipal water, appliances, and so on) are used to generate your inventory and dated maintenance schedule. Your ZIP code drives climate rules and, when you ask for a contractor, the search radius. Your full street address is never shown to a contractor unless you send a quote request that includes it.
Uploaded documents and photos
Inspection reports, seller disclosures, plans, receipts, and equipment photos are stored in private storage scoped to your account. Other users cannot list or read them, and access requires your authenticated session. We process these files to extract equipment details (brand, model, install year, condition notes) so your inventory is accurate. We do not use your documents to train public models, and we do not publish them anywhere. Deleting a file in the app deletes it from storage.
Contractor recommendations from friends
Contractors you save are private to you. They become visible to another person only when you explicitly share them with a connection you have accepted. There is no public feed, and shared contact details are never sold or offered to advertisers.
We do not sell your personal information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, your documents, your property details, or your contractor contacts. We do not sell lead lists to contractors. If we ever earn a commission on a product link, that is disclosed on the page and it does not involve sharing your identity with the retailer.
Service providers
We use a small number of vendors to run the product: cloud hosting and database, authentication, file storage, email delivery, and payment processing. They may process your data only to provide those services to us. When a quote request is sent, the contractor you selected receives the details you chose to include.
Retention and deleting your account
We keep your data while your account is active. To delete your account, open Settings and choose “Delete account”, or email support@knowhouse.com from your account address. Deletion removes your homes, inventory, tasks, saved contractors, and uploaded documents and photos. We complete deletion within 30 days, except for records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons (such as payment receipts). You can also export or request a copy of your data at the same address.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Database access is restricted per user with row-level security, so your rows are readable only by your own session. No system is perfect; if a breach affects your data we will notify you promptly.
Children
KnowHouse is not intended for anyone under 16.
